Sit on all the 250cc cruisers, one may fit you a little better. Next, the Suzuki Boulevard S40 has a single cylinder 650cc engine. It doesn't produce that much power, and the frame is small (though bigger than the 250s)- it is a great beginners bike. Another good starter cruiser is the Kawasaki Vulcan 500.
Jen Dunstan: Honda Rebel 300 or 500. Whenever I am asked for a recommendation on a great beginner bike, I am always quick to advocate for the one that was my first-ever motorcycle: the Honda Rebel. For me, it was specifically a used 1985 Rebel 250. I rode it for two years and learned so many important riding fundamentals on it.
Rode a 2007 Honda Shadow Aero as my first bike for a year before buying a 2020 Bonneville. The Shadow is an excellent bike to start with, though the older model was carbureted which gave me a few problems. The Bonneville allows a standard riding position which fits more like what a bicycle would feel like. The cruiser style was nevertheless

Honda rebel 500 is extremely “nimble”. Very easy to control unlike those Harley. It can reach a very good top speed 155 km/h, quite the kick as well. It can reach 0-100 km/h in matter of 6 seconds (remember this is cruiser not sport bike). That’s quite good for a cruiser 500cc if not the best among 400-650cc.
